Oven Toaster Pork Barbecue

Love pork barbecue but hate firing up charcoal? Just use your oven to grill them tasty barbecue. You'll slightly miss the nice meat aroma caused by charcoal grilling, but other than this, not much of a difference really. :)

Many novice charcoal grill users, I'm raising my hand as I'm one of them, have difficulty starting fire. My husband, on the other hand, is good at creating strong fire using charcoal. I think men in most households are great at grilling that's because, I personally think, fire-making skill is embedded in their DNA. :) Charcoal grilling is one of the things we must commit to master soon but meantime, our oven is a great alternative. Below is the pork barbecue I made using my little oven toaster. :) But this pork barbecue is even better when cooked over charcoal.

1. Combine soysauce, calamansi extract and minced garlic in an airtight container. Add pork and mix well so that each 1/4" thick pork slices are covered with the marinade. Keep in the fridge overnight.

It would be better to marinate the meat overnight so that all the marinade will be absorbed making the pork barbecue tastier. But if you are short on time, you may marinate for at least about 3 hours.

Also, I suggest you chill the pork for a few hours so that it is easier to make thin rectangle slices.

2. In a pan, saute garlic then add all ingredients for the barbecue sauce. Stir and simmer until your barbecue sauce has thickened. Turn off heat.

3. Skewer the pork using bamboo sticks about 3 or 4 pork slices. Brush with the barbecue sauce then grill in a preheated oven using the highest temperature until pork barbecue is cooked.

Mine is about 500 Fahrenheit and takes 25 minutes.

4. Every 5 to 7 minutes or as necessary, I re-brush with the barbecue sauce to prevent the pork barbecue from drying and for the sauce to be absorbed in the meat.

5. When done, serve your pork barbecue hot from the oven. Enjoy! :)
