Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies

I love brownies and i bake them so my big baby can bring some to school. What's great about brownies is you can add some things to make them on the healthy side like peanut butter, some grains, some nuts and more. These additions not only make brownies healthier but they make them brownies prettier too! :)

So for this brownies recipe, we'll add oatmeal. You can use either instant oats or the quick cooking ones. For the base chocolate brownies, I'll be using my easy chocolaty brownies then I used this oatmeal brownies recipe from here to top my chocolate brownies with. I tell you, oatmeal complements well with chocolate brownies and if you haven't done this Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies yet, then I would suggest you give this a try and thank me later. :)

Making our oatmeal batter

1. Mix flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

2. Cream butter and sugar using an electric mixer.

3. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Then add vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

4. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. We'll be using half of this oatmeal batter to top our chocolate brownies.

8. Fold in your dry ingredients. We will use half of this as our base for our Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies.

Assembling our Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies

9. Use half of our Chocolate Brownies  and spread in a pan lined with wax paper. Then drop spoonfuls of oatmeal batter on top.

10. Spread the oatmeal batter using the back of a spoon. Then, using a fork, drizzle some chocolate brownies batter on top to make our brownies prettier. :) Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 35 minutes.

I used an oven toaster by the way so our cooking time may vary. It pays to know your oven well. :) Also cooking time varies depending on the size of your pan making a thicker or thinner Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies.

11. When a toothpick comes out clean when inserted, your Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies are done. Let cool on a wire rack then place in the fridge for about 10 minutes to make slicing easier.

While the first half is baking, spread the remaining Chocolate Oatmeal Brownies batter in another pan. Then bake after the first one's done.

12. Slice, serve and enjoy! Oatmeal indeed complements well with chocolate brownies. Makes brownies less of a guilty pleasure. :) Would you agree?
